"A man's burliness is determined, not by his stature, but by his character."

Protection

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
- Thomas Jefferson

We at back to burly feel very strongly about the 2nd Amendment, which is clearly a right guaranteed by our constitution. I cannot even figure out what the argument is against it. Obviously owning or carrying a gun is a huge responsibility, and one that should not be taken lightly. There are some people that have no business owning or carrying a gun. So I understand that people are concerned about guns on the streets and in the hands of the wrong people; however, fear is no reason to trample on the rights of free men. It is fear that enslaves, and fear that must be overcome in order to avoid the loss of rights. This is simply a closed case. The removal of this right would be just cause to overthrow the government. Just as Thomas Jefferson also said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." This is clearly not a concern, because of the courage of a few (www.nra.org ) that stand up and fight to secure our rights.

The right to carry and own weapons is not the issue. For the authentic man, protection is much more than a right, it is a responsibility. We as men are required to protect those, not only that we love, but those incapable of protecting themselves. This does not simply mean pulling out your gun to shoot an intruder in you home or an attacker on the street. It means protecting every young person, women, or friend in every area that they may need protection.

For example a young girl's self-image must be protected against societal demands, peer pressure, and her own feelings of inadequacy. A young boy or man must be protected from his struggle to assimilate into mob of his own peers. They both must be protected from the pain of divorce and broken homes. Yes, sometimes the protection of another may require physical force or the use of a weapon, and as men we will be there for such a dreaded occasion. Although, far more often the emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs are what require the greatest amount of defense.

This type of protection is not required by law nor guaranteed by our Constitution, it is simply the duty of the AUTHENTIC MAN!! A BURLY MAN!!
